I’m originally from Washington DC but I’ve lived a nomadic life and have spent the last ten years in Madrid, Spain. I was in the US Air Force for many years but for 6 years have been running a luxury events company with a Spanish wine and gourmet theme. A dream job!
For personal reasons, I’ve decided to return to the US and though I miss Madrid terribly, it’s also great to be back! The culture shock is so fun!
Awareness of Spanish wines and cuisine has become much greater in the US in recent years but it’s still far behind the heavy hitters, Italy and France. I hope to continue to look at Spain and it’s amazing culture from this side of the Atlantic, looking at some of the wines and tapas available over here. I’ll also stay up on all things Madrid on my frequent trips back.
